Romeo and Juliet – Essay Preparation

Included in these slides are some starter ideas for the answering of the two included essay questions.

The essay writing officially starts on Monday, and the students will have 3 classroom periods and 2 weeks of homework time to complete their project, of which this essay is a major component. The word limit for the piece is 1000 words.

As a departure from normal practice, all the feedback on the students’ work will be given while they’re still drafting their responses, with a level awarded after they are complete. This will allow the students time and opportunity to integrate the feedback they get as they write, rather than expecting them to be interested in it after the fact.

This is an ‘open book’ assessment, and students are encouraged to utilise the work they have already done on their timelines to support their answering in the essay (for example, if they have already found examples of quotations that support the idea of fate, they can use these as part of answering the fate question.

As always, any questions students have can be posed on their blogs, or directly to me in person or via email.
